Dylan Page's Mer-Mazing Book Awards Mini Interview

"Which of your characters do you relate the most to and why?"

"To both Shay and Mina.

To Mina, because I understand her trauma as a child, the confusion she felt growing up. You do your best to be good in hopes that everything will work out, only to find out that life isn't that simple and you learn that not all people are good, or can be saved.

Then to Shay, because sometimes the darkness is so overpowering that you fall into it. Some days it's harder to find your way out, it's harder to ignore the horrible thoughts in your head, and it wears you down.

So many people are suffering in silence, and though talking about it is becoming more socially accepted, I still feel like we can do better to help. I want people to know they are not alone."

"How do you celebrate your book releases?"

"A glass of wine, some chocolate, and then right back to Mummy-duty, lol!"

"What was the hardest scene for you to write?"

"In Part Two, it was writing their first time together doing the "Devil's Tango". I rewrote that scene several times in different ways trying to think about what felt most right. It was hard taking myself out of what I would do in that situation, versus what MINA would do."

"What do you love about being an author? Do you have any favorite memories since becoming one?"

"It's everything to me. Since I was a little kid I absolutely LOVED storytelling, and I've been telling stories my whole life. When I hear that people actually like my books and characters, it's like a dream come true.

Favourite memories since becoming one is probably just all the people I've met. Other authors that I love and admire, the sweet, kind readers who reach out. I've met some truly amazing people on this author journey, and it's hard to pick a singular moment in time."

"What is your favorite genre/trope to write? Are there any genres you plan to delve into in the future?"

"I LOVE writing forbidden! And that includes things like Age-Gap, step-relations, jealous-possessive alpha men. Anything involving those I love!"
